Cool Gadgets

In my time spent meandering about the internet searching for just the perfect gift for my loved ones this holiday season, I’ve encountered a lot of truly innovative items and gadgets that often make me wonder “why didn’t I think of that?”. A great example of this is the product I recently stumbled across known as Throx, Touted on their website as “the cure for the missing sock”, instead of a pair of socks, these socks are sold in a set of three (three socks = throx), so that when one sock undoubtedly and mysteriously goes missing, you still have a matching set. As someone who has a drawer full of unmatched socks, this is the perfect gift idea for yours truly.

For my boyfriend who hates yard work, but loves playing golf, I plan on surprising him this spring with the Big Daddy Driver. Just as much a gift for me as it is a gift for him, this amazing golf club also doubles as a weed whacker. Now my dear boyfriend can work on his golf swing, AND cut the lawn at the same time!  Seriously, how thoughtful am I? Stir ChefFor my mom, who’s forever ruining Sunday dinner by forgetting to stir the sauce, The StirChef  would save her countless hours of time, money and familial guilt. The StirChef is a battery operated automatic sauce stirrer. Once you put your sauce on the stovetop to simmer, you simply stick this gadget in with the sauce and it continuously (or occasionally) mixes to ensure that your sauce doesn’t get lumpy or stick to the bottom. You’re free to move on to other tasks without having to check the sauce every ten minutes. GENIUS. Even more genius? Saving money on the StirChef with our Amazon coupons.

For my dad, who’s back isn’t quite what it used to be when he was a strapping young lad, this wheeled-snow shovel would be really thoughtful gift. Called the Sno Wovel,   this unique shovel’s ergonomic design helps to take the stress off over your lower back, and claims get the job done in half the time of a regular shovel. It’s also less expensive and more environmentally friendly than a traditional snow blower. If you’re interested in purchasing this item, they’re currently available at both Amazon.com and Ebay.com

4These customized band-aids would make a great addition to any household with children. How often do you find yourself faced with an assortment of bandages, none of which are the proper thickness or dimension to cover your mishap? This product works similar to a tape dispenser, doling out bandages of the length and thickness of your choice. In a similar vein, for my brother who’s forever wounding himself at his mechanical job, I’m definitely ordering him up a package of these “tough guy” duct tape bandages.

6And lastly, for my sister who’s idea of a “catastrophe” means missing a sale at her favorite store, I immediately thought of her when I saw The Emergency Bag . This ingenious bag folds up into itself and hangs on your key chain until its “called into active duty”. Buy-one-get-one sale at the Gap? Post holiday sale on DVD’s at Best Buy? Just unhook your emergency bag and open it up to a durable, 20”x24” shopping bag capable of holding up to 60lbs. This is also perfect for those who want to do a little eco-friendly grocery shopping too. Now say it with me folks… why didn’t I think of that?
