Now that the holiday season has concluded, it’s time to start thinking about your New Year’s Resolutions. This year I’m going with one simple, attainable goal: to be more active and eat more nutritiously for an overall benefit of being healthier. With that said, I’m also going to have a side resolution of saving money on the purchases I have to make to keep my resolution. With ShopGala, there are countless ways to achieve a goal of better health, and even more ways to save money while doing so, especially this time of year. If you have a similar “healthy” resolution, read below for the research I’ve done for you to help save you money and help you keep your resolution straight through 2011.
The first thing you need to decide is what method of working out and being active best suits you personally. There are a myriad of options available, but most people choose to join a local gym. New Year’s is the peak time of year for gym membership join rates, and it’s due to people determined to keep their New Year’s resolution. Bear in mind that being healthy has its price though. The average gym membership costs between $30 and $50 per month, and most have an annual fee on top of that. If you’re looking to join a gym on the cheap
check out our 24 Hour Fitness coupons to help you save money on gym membership fees. Most notably they are offering a one year membership for $179.99, which works out to an incredibly low cost of only $15 per month.
I currently have a gym membership, but I’m considering cancelling it so that instead I can use the Wii Fit Plus. We previously reviewed the Wii Fit Plus, and after researching the product, I am going to take the leap and purchase one for myself. I love the idea of practicing Yoga in the comfort of my own home. The average cost of the Wii Fit Plus (about $99.00) is a third of what I currently pay in gym membership fees, so really it’s a no brainer for my wellbeing and my wallet.
Another method for better health is through joining weight loss programs like NutriSystem and Weight Watchers. Like gyms, these programs also see a rise in membership this time of year. Their group type settings provide camaraderie and encouragement for their members to stay on track of their diet and exercise goals. Both are currently offering discounts on our site, so stop by and check them out if these programs are right for you.
If you’re lacking on time for gym memberships or programs, and electronic workouts just aren’t your thing, then why not try a home gym system from HomeGyms Inc. or Total Gym Direct. Home gyms are a great way to get fit and stay healthy in the privacy of your own home. There are tons of coupons listed on our site to get your own personal home gym started and customized for your personal needs and goals.
Once you have your workout method down, it’s time to think about workout attire. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to look good while you work out. Personally, I find new gym clothes motivating, and I buy most of my gym clothes online at Target.com.
They have a great selection of Champion, Reebok, and Nike workout attire to keep me motivated all year long. Check out our Target coupons to save money on workout attire.
Other notable sites with ShopGala coupons for discounted workout attire are The Sports Authority, Foot Locker, adidas and Under Armour.
If you plan on restricting calories than you may need to up your vitamin intake during your fitness regimen. View our GNC coupons page.
and Vitamin World for a great selection of nutritional supplements, energy boosters, and vitamins all at discounted prices. Gaiam is another site that offers all natural nutritional supplements for the “eco friendly”. Also look for the Drugstore.com coupon that is currently offering $10 off the diet supplement Alli.
Lastly, with all that time being spent at the gym or working out at home, finding time to go food shopping is going to be a challenge. Why not sign up for a grocery delivery service like Peapod? Using a grocery delivery service like Peapod means less time spent shopping and lugging all of your items into the house. Furthermore, less time spent wandering around a grocery store means less opportunity to make impulse purchases of non-healthy food items. Check out our PeaPod coupons to help get you started on saving money with this customized grocery service.
