Every year for Father’s Day, I struggle to come up with something new and unusual to get my husband. As a fairly new dad, I can usually stick to fun purchases of items we don’t have yet to enjoy with our kids… like a video camera for home movies or a toddler seat to add to his bike. But one thing I always get for him is a no-brainer and it’s become a bit of a tradition in our house since my husband’s very first Father’s Day: an annual Shutterfly wall calendar.
Why I Go to Shutterfly
Sure, there are plenty of great sites out there that offer personalized photo creations, from books to mugs to t-shirts to calendars. You can even go to your local CVS and run one off if you’ve got the time. Years ago, I chose Shutterfly as our family’s official photo archiving service, uploading every candid I snapped on my camera or even my phone to save for posterity. Making photo gifts is the next natural step in the process. And with great prices, tons of great rolling deals throughout the year, plenty of special events, and service that’s both top-notch and reliable… I can’t imagine myself ordering a photo gift or print anywhere else. They’ve been treating us well since about 2004, so why change now?
More than that, however, is the fact that I trust Shutterfly with my family’s precious memories. I’ve invested time and money into creating great photo books for friends and family, not just this annual calendar for my husband’s Father’s Day each year. I’ve never had an item arrive late or not as ordered. I know they’ll do a good job with whatever I need.
What I Order from Shutterfly
That being said, if you haven’t tried an online photo service yet, I highly recommend Shutterfly. I tend to update my photos at the end of every month, organizing them into neat little folders to access for projects later. This way, I can create the perfect chronological calendar for my husband.
See, he’s a teacher and needs something he can carry in his school bag to keep him organize. Each year, I order him a trusty 12-month wall calendar because it’s spiral-bound, sturdy, and travels well. He could hang it up somewhere—if he ever stayed in one place long enough—but this calendar is flexible enough to go wherever he needs it. He loves the style and the space he has on each day’s block to make notes.
So what goes inside? As I said, I keep my photos organized by month and then add them in accordingly. So his July 2012 page features pictures of my daughter from last July, and so on. It’s a fun reminder for us to see how much she’s grown in one year and is a big hit with our family and friends.
Maybe that’s not the project for you, but whatever your photo gift needs might be, I recommend swinging by Shutterfly to take advantage of great specials like 50% off photo books, free shipping, and many other Shutterfly coupon codes today!
