As a new mom, I’ve been taking my fair share of pictures. In fact, I’ve racked up a grand total of priceless moments in the hundreds. If I were to walk down to my local CVS photo and develop these pics at 19 cents apiece, I’d be broke pretty fast.
I mean, that’s $19 for every 100 pictures. Now multiply that by six or seven. Then order doubles for my daughter’s grandparents. That’s over $300, easily. And that’s not going to happen.
But then, you have to notify your friends and family of your newborn, so I started looking for birth announcements. To print out the ones I wanted, it would have cost even more. Plus stamps. Yikes.
Fortunately, I’ve been using Shutterfly for my digital prints and photo sharing for the past few years. Even though I’d have to wait a couple of days for shipping time, I knew it would save my quite a bit of money to order the prints and announcements there.
They are always running great promotions, especially around holidays. Right now, there are savings on photo books, cards, prints, and even free shipping offers to help me cut down on my costs. I paid about half of what I would for CVS birth announcements to order my 200 cards with free shipping and 20% savings.

So now I’ve got my triple copies of my prints, my 200 birth announcements out in the mail, and I’m working on a photo book to give my husband on Father’s Day this year. So far, so good. But Shutterfly offers other ways to save on digital photo printing, which I was only too happy to use.
For those friends and family who I couldn’t send an announcement to by mail, there are online sharing sites hosted by Shutterfly.
Share sites allow you to post photos, videos and even journal entries to keep friends and family updated. You can invite guests to view your site and they can post comments and upload their own photos as well. It’s a great way to get all your memories in one place!
Right now, when you start a share site, Shutterfly will give you up to 60 free 4×6 prints. Needless to say, mine is up and running and my photos are already in the mail on their way here!
I’ve been a long time user of Shutterfly and I’ve always been happy with their service. I’ve had photo books, calendars, bulk orders of prints, Christmas cards, and (now) birth announcements made there. They’re always quick to deliver and everything they do is high quality. If you need to cut some dollars from your photo printing expenses, definitely check it out!
