I started with the three-hole punch and found a wide range of price points, from $16 to industrial strength ones at over $100.  There were several brands and styles to choose from, so I was able to find the right one for what I needed.  Nothing huge or complicated, just something to punch holes into paper, three at a time. Just the basics, you know?  I chose the $16 Swingline and it’s treating me just fine.

I also scoped out some label makers, priced the cost of my printer’s ink, and browed some basic office supplies just to get an idea what my regular costs would be.  Nothing seemed over-priced, but nothing was particularly a serious markdown.  I think the secret to saving big at Staples lies in the Hot Deals Center and the weekly deals they offer.

Within the Hot Deals Center, you can shop office supply deals, technology deals, furniture deals, and copy & print.  What’s on sale always changes, but there are always deals available.  You can also browse the Weekly Ad which is the same as the weekly circular available in stores.  Right now, there are big deals on laptops, printers, copy paper, and office chairs.  I also found deals on flashdrives and CD-RWs so I could get what I needed for regular backups.

Staples also offers some specialty sections to help you find what you need.  There’s an “Up to 50% off!” section, as well as a clearance page.  Right now, Staples also has some special, seasonal centers.  Shop the Flu Center for everything you need to fight the spread of germs and disease in your office. 

To give back, you can also shop in the “Help Support Breast Cancer” page, where everything is pink.  Purchases of these items, ranging from Post-Its to file folders to Rolodex business card books.  I picked up a couple of these items in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month (October).  A percentage of these purchases will go to cancer research and finding a cure.

Checking out was nice and easy, and my shipping was free on my order over $50.  You can choose to have your items shipped to your home or a nearby Staples store, but I elected to receive them at home.  And the next day, when everything arrived nice and neat in one box, I was shocked how quickly my items arrived.  From beginning to end, I had a great experience shopping at Staples and I saved some money with coupon codes and discounts.
